FORTIFIED: This song features the amazing talent of Tony Furtado on bottleneck slide guitar. Tony is a phenomenal player on slide guitar, an award-winning banjo extraordinaire, and amazing songwriter. I have wanted to put this song out for a long time but never found an album for it. So, bringing it out as a single feels like a great accomplishment. I recorded this with Michael Iris and Aaron Guest at Bell Creek studios in Welcome, WA, during my Driftless session. Tony recorded his part at The Hallowed Halls studio in Portland, OR. Aaron Guest on bass and I covered everything else on my own. I love the way it turned out. Mixed by Samuel Wesner and mastered by Carl Saff, this turned into a beautiful project that I’m super proud of.
my story
I grew up in Arlington, Washington, the youngest of seven kids in a musical household where instruments were everywhere and creativity wasn’t optional, it was survival.
