Release #1: MARCH 2026
Here is the first release of the Bring it Home project! Every month, you will receive 3 tracks delivered directly to you!
Track One: Who Waits
Who Waits is an original that I wrote together with Genevieve Hayton many years ago. Within minutes of me sitting down and showing her the melody and riff, Genevieve started busting out the amazing lyrics. This is one of those songs that nearly fell out of the sky for us and flowed immediately. It’s so simple, but the deep lyrics and the powerful message “Who waits for things to change” instantly stick in your mind. The lyrics center around the all too familiar tension and division we’re dealing with as a country and global community. How “the man” seems to be running the show regardless of how we as a community feel about the way things are happening.
There are a lot of questions being asked about how we move forward. Regardless of how much we feel at a loss and powerless at times, the call to action and the desire to create change are here. We are not powerless. Many forms of resistance are still available to us. Voting, gathering, singing, protesting, and creating art truly bring hope and change in these crazy times. This track features an epic vocal performance from my friend Vicci Martinez. Vicci was a local who recorded on a Flowmotion track called Mercy 20 years ago. I knew from the minute we wrote Who Waits that it was meant for Vicci to sing. She and I spent one day together while I was working in NYC. We ran through the tune with just my acoustic guitar in a hotel room. Many months later, I finally started recording it with my long-time collaborator, Rob Peebler. Rob recorded several Flowmotion albums as well as my first solo album. He came up with the bass riff that sparked the session. We recorded this at my home in Bellingham, WA. Vicci recorded her vocals from her tiny closet in NYC. I absolutely love this tune and all of the collaborative energy from everyone involved.
Track 2 - “hidden jam” -
DOn’s funk/Pleasure opportunity:
Welcome to your first “Hidden Jam” - Don’s Funk / Pleasure Opportunity (Live at Summer Meltdown 2011 in Darrington, WA)
Pulled straight from the vault, Don’s Funk / Pleasure Opp captures a blazing 14-minute jam from Summer Meltdown Festival. This is Flowmotion in full flight - fearless, and completely locked in the pocket. You can literally hear the energy through this recording. Deep grooves, sweaty, and undeniable, as the band takes the crowd on an crazy adventure. Don’s Funk was written by Don Goodwin, our lengendary former keyboardist for Flowmotion and Beecraft. It features a ripping solo from RL Heyer, insanely tight drumming by Scotty Goodwin, and incredible percussion by Bob Rees. All glued together with the deep bass of Eric Bryson. We mashed up Don’s Funk with Pleasure Opportunity, a tune that I wrote as a teen with my first band, My Funktional Family. I gave it a funk makeover for the Flowmotion catalogue. This is a true gem of pure Meltdown magic. Recorded by Chip Butters in an RV behind the stage. He mixed and produced this at his studio Butter Sounds in Everett, WA.
COVER SONG - HELPLESSLY HOPING:
a sweet pandemic collab while the world was in lockdown.
Helplessly Hoping
This is a remote, pandemic-era recording of Helplessly Hoping by Crosby, Stills & Nash, created with close friends while the world was paused and we were all finding new ways to stay connected. Matt Rieger from the Lil Smokies anchors the song on with his gorgeous guitar melody, sweet vocals, and a subtle pump organ deep in the mix, giving it a sweet feel. Then my dear friend, Sarah Feignberg delivers a stunning vocal performance that adds so much depth and tenderness to the track. This version holds the real fragility of that time, music as a lifeline, sent through the wires.
